Boot Camp 1960

I was at North Island in Boot Camp in August 1960. I was just 18, from Idaho and had not traveled much. I decided to "See the World". Boot Camp was quite an awakening. I left home because I did not like to live by my folks rules, little did I know. I remember our Company Commander, E. K. Quick was kind of tough. I had a cigarette in my pocket during morning inspection. Boy did I ever regret that. I carried a S**t Can for the day. Every time we stopped I got to scrub a tee shirt. I remember all of the time we spent on the grinder. I was in Company 60-445. We did win some weekly awards, life was good. We screwed up and did not win, life was not so good. I met guys from all over the U S. I am trying to contact some of them. I would like to hear from anyone of them. I went from Boot Camp to VP-4 on Okinawa. I spent 18 months there. I was an AK-3. I returned to North Island in July 1962 and was at FAAOPAC. I finished up at VAW-11, also at North Island.
